MEHTAP ALP – Vocal & Bass Player
With a passion for music that blossomed in her childhood, Mehtap Alp took her first real step into the world of performance when she was accepted into the Fine Arts High School’s Music Department. She went on to study at Uludağ University’s Music Teaching Department, graduating in 2004. During this time, she worked as a music teacher in various schools, inspiring her students while also nurturing her own musical journey.
Born in Eskişehir, Alp began her career with the band İkibesbir (II–V–I Jazz), performing at various venues and schools in Bursa. In 2019, she took the stage with İkibesbir at the Bursa Nilüfer Municipality Jazz Festival, sharing her love for jazz with the audience. She later joined the band Nozaik, continuing to perform both as a bassist and vocalist.
Alp has performed on numerous stages in Turkey and Sweden, appearing at cultural festivals in Jönköping, Norrköping, and Linköping with a wide repertoire ranging from world music to jazz influences. In 2024, she released her debut album Boundless Dreams, a collection of works inspired by different cultures and reflecting a cross-genre approach, offering music lovers a unique experience.
Her musical style blends Eastern melodies with jazz harmonies and groove-based bass lines, creating a sound world that is both rhythmic and emotional. Her performances are warm and inviting, offering the audience a journey to remember.
MUSTAFA ALP – Guitar Player & Vocal
He has been immersed in music since childhood, beginning his formal journey at a Turkish Music Conservatory during his high school years. Later, he pursued classical music training at university, graduating from the Music Teaching Department in 2001. His passion for music led him to further study jazz, earning a Master’s degree from Bahçeşehir University’s Jazz Academy.
Alongside his teaching career, he has performed extensively with various bands and ensembles, gaining rich experience on stage. During his jazz studies, he collaborated with renowned musicians such as Erkan Oğur, Baki Duyarlar, and Şevket Akıncı, who deeply influenced his artistic growth.
In 2019, he relocated to Jönköping, Sweden, where he joined Engelska Skolan as a music teacher. This diverse background—spanning Turkish classical, Western classical, and jazz traditions—has profoundly shaped his musical approach. He continues to explore how these genres can be woven together as he searches for his own unique sound, balancing his roles as an educator and performer with a deep passion for music.
ALI UGUR OKUMUSOGLU – Drummer
He began his musical journey in elementary school by playing the piano. During his high school years, he discovered the drums and gradually shifted his full musical focus to this instrument. For over 25 years, he has performed professionally on stage, embracing a wide range of styles including rock, arabesque, pop, metal, and jazz, as well as appearing with classical ensembles such as the Bursa Symphony Orchestra.
He has shared the stage with many well-known Turkish artists who have released albums of their own, including Bora Duran, Ebru Gündeş, Fatih Erkoç, Fettah Can, Gülben Ergen, Suspect, and many more. He also performed with his band Sirius at Zeytinli Rock Festival, one of Turkey’s most prominent music events, and contributed to music history by touring with Zıwana in the first rock music tour ever held in Eastern Anatolia.
In addition to his performances, he has worked as a drum instructor at various music schools in Bursa, guiding hundreds of students on their own musical journeys. He is recognized for his stage experience and his ability to adapt rhythmic knowledge across different genres. He is currently based in Sweden, where he continues his musical work as one of the founding members of Nozaik.
